Sandi Thom Music Promotions Interview

Can you tell us more about “Revolution Anthem’

Revolution Anthem is a song of the times. It’s a reflection of our society, of the oppression, the injustices and the suffering that we are currently seeing in our world. It’s the people’s song.

What was your vision when writing this song?

To be fair I didn’t write the body of the words, my partner did. But after sending me what he’d written, I came up with the majority of the chorus lyrics and the sentiment behind the song. But the idea behind it really is quite obvious. It’s a song for the people and about the people.

How was the debate night on BBC Scotland?  Did you take away anything from the night that you didn’t expect?

It was terrifying!! I was completely out of my depth. But I feel like I held my own on the questions.

Does this particular song set the tone for future music releases this year?

This song is very much akin to how I’ve always recorded. Very raw roots, and real. So yes it’s an indicator of what’s to come but it’s also true to my roots

Have you got the next singles already planned and ready for release?

Yes and no! Some of the songs are ready and some are not! But basically, I’m creating a body of work called Warpaint. So all of the next few songs will be part of that project.

Can you talk more about your line of NFTs?

NFTs are such a great way forward for any indie artist. It’s another revenue stream that everyone should be taking advantage of. You basically create exclusive content for the NFT site. Check out Gala and Serenade.

Since you released ‘I Wish I was a punk rocker’, how much would you say you’ve changed musically and the music industry?

The industry has changed massively. Songs are getting shorter. People’s attention span is getting worse. We need to preserve the old-school methods of writing and recording to maintain authenticity.

What are your go-to music streaming choices?

If I’m running I listen to drum n bass, if I’m chilling I tend to delve into particular high-vibing frequencies, if I’m partying I listen to Stevie Wonder and Fleetwood Mac…if I’m driving fast I listen to 80s power ballads! 😂

As a songwriter what other songwriters would you love to have a songwriting session with?

Joni Mitchell

What live shows do you have coming up?

Festivals throughout the summer months and a few of my own shows here and there! Check out the website! sandithommusic.com

Final messages? Be bold and brave my friends! ♥️💪🏽
