What’s the story behind “Miss You Love You”
Miss You Love You is a song about a love that’s long passed and wanting to call the person to tell them you miss them but always talking yourself out of it. It’s about reminiscing on your time together and wondering if they ever do the same.
Is it a situation you have been in personally and did writing this song help you make sense of how you were feeling?
It is a situation I’ve been in before if not many times. This song was one of the first ones I wrote and recorded for my upcoming album so it was very cathartic writing it and helped set the tone sonically for the singer songwriter direction I was going in.
The lyric video- what was the idea behind that?
I wanted to visually represent the feeling of wanting to call the person you’re missing, going back and forth in your head, wondering if you should reach out or not. How you can talk yourself into doing it and then out of it in a quick second and the rollercoaster of emotions you go through.
Does this song give a good indication of what’s to come from you or is this one side of you and there’s lots more that we won’t expect to come?
This song is definitely the heartbreak focused song on the album but sonically taps into the folkier side of me that you’ll hear more of. There’s definitely a variety of genres I tried exploring on the album from pop to rock to folk while still keeping everything cohesive and true to myself.
Do you have the next release ready?
My next release will be my debut album which I’ll be announcing soon!
Can you talk more about your album?
It’s a concept album all about the high highs and low lows of my twenties and the journey I had to go on to get to this new sound, new name, new chapter, and these 11 songs.
How long have you spent working on it?
I started the album back in 2021 so it will feel so liberating once it comes out this year! I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out and so excited for listeners to finally hear the full picture.
You have toured alongside Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Daya, what did you take away from each tour?
So many things! I was a sponge watching these incredible artists do their thing. I mainly soaked up how they performed, treated their band, their crew, their audience, and how they chose to lead the way. Every artist had their own way of how they handled everything so it was very helpful seeing how I wanted to be moving forward.
And when can we see you back on stage?
If you’re in the LA area I’ll be playing at the Troubadour in June and hopefully more dates announced after that!
As we know you play guitar, do you play any other instruments? What has been the easiest song you’ve learnt to play on guitar and the hardest?
I do play piano but guitar is definitely my main instrument. I was a classical guitar major in college so some of those pieces were definitely the hardest ones I’ve ever had to learn and play. Easiest song is so subjective…I have a song on my album that’s only 2 chords the whole time so that’s super easy but it’s probably my favorite one on the album…sometimes simpler is better.
As a songwriter do you write for other artists?
I’ve tried in the past and never really loved it. My songwriting is so personal to my story and is my therapy and outlet. I’m not one of those writers who writes songs everyday just for fun. I usually write to get something off my chest and express myself, so it doesn’t come naturally for me to craft a song for someone else. Never say never though! Every songwriter is different and I’m so impressed by the others who do.
Any songwriters you’d like to get together and create something with?
I’m such a fan of female singer songwriters. My idol is Stevie Nicks so writing with her would be a dream come true. I’m also a huge fan of Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves…really any girl power singer songwriter and I’d be there in a heartbeat.
What music are you currently streaming?
I’m obsessed with the new Kacey Musgraves album…I cry every time I hear The Architect. That whole album is so peaceful and I’ve been listening to it every day while I walk.
Plans for the rest of the year?
My main focus is releasing my album and sharing my story with everyone! Will announce everything soon so stay tuned!
