Jo O’ Meara is back with her new single and a new album, You may know Jo from S Club 7 and more recently as S Club 3, Now back with her own music, Jo shares her new single ‘SWEET SURRENDER’ Her new album ‘WITH LOVE’, OUT AUGUST 27TH.
Jo Spoke to Music Promotions about her new music, releasing her album, Shooting the music video for ‘Sweet Surrender’ touring and much more.
What was your inspiration behind your album ‘With Love’?
1: I found the inspiration, through the love of music , and heart felt songs which have a meaning ! There are songs on this album which I definitely think people can relate too ! It’s nice to be able to be creative And hear my ideas come to life !
Where did you shoot the video for ‘On The Surface?’ The video was directed by “Steve price” what was it like to work with him on this video?
2: we shot the video at Metrophonic studio , where I also recorded the Album ! Working with Steve Price is just incredible! He is such a talent , and such a warm and lovely man ! I feel very lucky to be able to work with such amazing people !!
How long did you spend writing and recording this album?
3: we probably spent around 4/5 months recording the album ! The ideas and inspiration was a lot longer ! But due to Covid we had to get things recorded as soon as we could !!
How much would you say your music has changed since you released ‘Relentless’ and ‘What Hurts The Most’?
4: I think it’s just a lot more mature now ! The sound of my voice has matured , and I’ve grown up so much since my first album ! There is a lot more depth to it !
You’ve been back performing with Sclub, is this something you will do again when live music starts up? Would you like to release a new album together?
5: I spent a lot of years with S club 7 And then as part of SC3 ! It was so much fun , but doing this album and having a chance to be a solo artist is my dream , so I want to concentrate on that for now ! But who knows ?? Maybe one day x
From having the previous chart success that you have had, is that still as important now for you as it was back then?
6: I think the most important thing for me as a singer , is just connecting with people through the music , And for the songs to be great ! Anything else is a bonus
When your in the studio writing and recording, what is your creative process?
7: It normally starts with a good melody , which Kjetil Morland is amazing with ! And then I will chat about things that I want to write about with Kjetil , Paul Meehan And Nicky Mac , And together we write !! Sometimes a song can come really fast , And other times you can get a blank !! But it always comes together in the end !!
Can we expect any calibrations?
8: who knows ??? I would definitely be up to do a collaboration if the right thing came along !!
What music right now are you streaming?
9: I listen to all sorts of music , from all different eras ! I love the old stuff from the 50/60’s but I also love current stuff ! I think Anne Marie is amazing !
Do you have your own live shows planned for hopefully this year or next?
10: There will defo be shows coming very soon !!
11. Career Highlights?
I’ve been lucky to have had lots of career highlights over the years !! But I think this Album “with Love” is my biggest highlight yet !
