Swedish singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello nominee Elina returns with the announcement of Elina’s forthcoming second EP, ‘A Place I Recognise’, her most daring and soul-baring work to date, out November 14th.
‘A Place I Recognise’ is a project born from one of the most transformative seasons of Elina’s life. After years of pushing herself to the brink, the Swedish artist made the life-changing decision to leave Stockholm and, with it, the relentless pace and pressures of the city, to begin again in the quiet countryside near her hometown. At its heart, ‘A Place I Recognise’ is a collection of songs about courage, healing, and coming home to yourself.
Musically, the EP sees Elina leaning into bolder, richer sounds, a vibrant new energy that reflects the grounded confidence she’s found in this chapter. “Sonically, it’s the boldest I’ve gone,” she says. “It’s been so fun to flirt with the band corners of my heart and bring that energy into something that still feels very me. This project is a reflection of where I am now: more grounded, clear, and finally ready to live in a way that feels true.”
“This EP is about me learning to truly listen to my gut, about letting go of the old to make space for something better, and about letting beautiful things in,” she shares. “So much has changed for me, especially in terms of my well-being, since making the scary but important decision to leave Stockholm and start creating a new home and calmer life. I feel more connected to people and to my creativity. I’ve struggled with fatigue symptoms and anxiety for most of the 10+ years I’ve worked in music full-time. It’s always been easy for me to put others’ needs before my own, and over time, that’s taken a huge toll on my mental health. I’m still in the process of healing from that.”
The EP features the first new single ‘Scars’, a heartfelt duet with acclaimed British artist James TW. On ‘Scars’, Elina and James TW’s voices weave together in a moving testament to the beauty found in imperfection. Their voices intertwine over gentle acoustic guitar and spacious, reverb-soaked electric melodies, slowly building into something bigger before falling back to a tender hush. English singer-songwriter James TW, first discovered by Shawn Mendesand signed to Island Records as a teen, has since toured globally, released multiple EPs and albums (First Impressions, Chapters, Heartbeat Changes), and amassed millions of streams, building a devoted following drawn to his honest storytelling and disarming charm.
The EP also features ‘Cutting Ties’, a driving, liberating anthem about finding the strength to say goodbye and move on; ‘Waiting Room’, a slow-burning reflection on patience and longing that builds into a powerful crescendo, where Elina muses, “Life is a waiting room, where I’ve been waiting for you for the longest time…”; and ‘Holding Space’, a tender piano ballad adorned with delicate strings, offering a moment of stillness and intimacy as she captures the feeling of finding home in another person.
Elina opened 2025 with ‘Never Know’, a song she co-wrote for Britpop legends The Kooks, and followed it with her warmly received EP ‘Under Different Skies’ in June. Now, she invites listeners deeper into her world with ‘A Place I Recognise’, a body of work shaped by courage, vulnerability, and the gentle power of letting the light in, scars and all.
Long praised for her gift of transforming raw emotion into timeless songs, Elina has quietly built a reputation as one of Sweden’s most captivating musical storytellers. Her songs have touched listeners around the globe, earning admiration from tastemakers such as Wonderland, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Notion, and When The Horn Blows. Her remarkable second single, ‘Here With Me’, even secured a notable sync on the US network show The Bold Type.
Elina launched her artist career in April 2018, but her rise to celestial glory began as a songwriter, having co-written the multi-platinum 2016 single ‘Sexual’ for NEIKED and having penned songs for Zara Larsson, Astrid S, Maroon 5, and SZA, amongst others. As a testament to the strength of her songwriting, Elina has been adorned with nominations for several awards in her native Sweden, including nominations at the prestigious Denniz Pop Awards in 2015 and 2018, and in 2017 she claimed the title of ‘Song of the Year’ at the Swedish Publishing Awards.
