JAEL is the Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ, and vocalist behind the brand new single entitled ‘Nancy Junglist’, featuring the reggae legend herself. JAEL’s ability to craft vast, hardcore bangers has allowed the Amsterdam-based producer to combine a familiar, melodic vocal with dirty beats usually found at the heart of the party. Listen [HERE].
With ‘Nancy Junglist’, the unpredictable musical innovator takes on a much-loved genre and catapults it towards gritty, unprecedented new realms. This track samples the iconic ‘Bam Bam’ by Sister Nancy, one of the most recognisable voices of all time. While ‘Bam Bam’ has been sampled by the likes of Jay-Z, Groove Armada, and Lauryn Hill, this is the first time Nancy has cleared a Jungle/D&B version of the record.
After releasing an impressive string of club shakers since taking on the music industry, JAEL is a remarkable talent who has refined a heavy sound that’s flawlessly curated for the global dancefloor.
Of the new single ‘Nancy Junglist’ featuring Sister Nancy, JAEL says, “Right after playing a set in Montpellier, I was preparing for my Boiler Room Set in London the very next day. I was looking to create a secret weapon to shake the room and had Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam vocal loop in my mind. I immediately started to loop the “Bam bam bam bam bam” and heard the crazy Jungle drums with a touch of Drum And Bass in my mind, along with a heavy bass line. Before I knew it, it was 7:30AM and had to catch my flight to London for my 2PM set. I decided to play my demo to test it out mid set, and the reaction was MAD. From that moment, I knew that I made a banger.”
Having grown up surrounded by a plethora of genres like Moluccan folk, gospel, soul, and Japanese funk, JAEL’s distinctly energetic performance style calls upon this vibrant childhood blend. He has received constant international praise for both his live instrumentation and capacities as a DJ on a global stage, performing at key events like Boiler Room Festival (AMS) and headlining at 02 Brixton. He has also toured across South Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. His monthly radio show CAROUSEL JAEL at London’s respected station Rinse FM absolutely exploded before dropping his debut album ‘Half as Much’ and featuring on Juls’ ‘Close To Me Together’ with Wizkid & Agent Sasco.
