Readying her comeback after a barely believable twenty years away, Shaznay Lewis has inspired a wave of interest ahead of the May 17th release of her second solo album ‘Pages’. Her most recent single ‘Kiss of Life’ proved to be a stylish return to the Radio 2 playlist, adding to the momentum generated by the album’s lead single ‘Miracle’.

Shaznay now shares another big comeback moment with the new single ‘Good Mourning’, which features very special guests: the BRIT and two-time MOBO winner Shola Ama (‘You Might Need Somebody’‘You’re Still The One I Love’)  and the pioneering UK ragga/jungle icon General LevyLISTEN HERE / WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO HERE.

‘Good Mourning’ unites two of the finest R&B vocalists of their era, and the track’s full-force positivity is then further fuelled by General Levy. It is about being contented about a love loss and realising that a break-up can instead be an opportunity to rediscover your own self-confidence.

Shaznay says, “The chorus is, ‘I don’t want to be lonely,’ it is laying out the rules of what you don’t want. We all want to be loved, but sometimes we sacrifice love and can end up feeling loneliness within a relationship. It’s about finding happiness through self-love and the understanding of self-worth.”

Shaznay wrote the song with its Grammy-nominated producer Michael Angelo (Sam Smith) plus Ali Tennant (hitmaker and vocal coach on ‘The Voice’), Ben Cullum (Celeste) and General Levy.

The classic black-and-white shot ‘Good Mourning’ video captures the three artists relishing their collaboration together. It was directed by Oscar J Ryan, who captures a similarly naturalistic aesthetic to what he delivered with the ‘Kiss of Life’ visual.

‘Good Mourning’ is a highlight within the variety of stories shaped by real life experience that Shaznay presents within ‘Pages’. Featuring further collaborators including Emily Phillips and Ant Whiting (Florence + The Machine), Johan Hugo (Self Esteem), Jez Ashurst (Maisie Peters), Moyses Dos Santos (Freya Ridings) and Charlie Stacey (Ezra Collective), the album is available to pre-order HERE.

Since her phenomenal success with All SaintsShaznay Lewis focused on family life and stepped behind-the-scenes to work as a songwriter. Many of her most memorable moments have just been compiled in Spotify’s new Written by Shaznay Lewis playlist.

Shaznay returned to the live arena in the summer of 2022 by joining Coldplay on-stage at Wembley Stadium to perform the All Saints classics ‘Never Ever’ and ‘Pure Shores’. After recently performing at the charity event Rise up for the Roundhouse Gala, Shaznay is now set to play her first full headline show in twenty years at London’s Jazz Cafe on May 14th. Limited tickets remain available HERE.
