Harriet has bounced from highlight-to-highlight throughout 2023. Her recent second album ‘The Outcome’ landed at #7 on the Official Record Store Chart, and she celebrated its release with a sold-out UK headline tour. Most recently she’s been making waves on TikTok, rising to 78,000 followers and almost 12 million views in just two months of her takes on classic 70s songs, with The Carpenters (including 4.2 million views of ‘Yesterday Once More’) proving to be particularly popular. And she achieved that by posting videos which solely focus upon the power of her voice rather than chasing trends or relying on gimmicks.

Today she continues her current rise by sharing her take on the Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson #1 smash ‘Symphony’. That vocal talent which is quickly earning a new army of fans more than matches the class of Zara Larsson’s original topline, while Harriet and producer Johannes Willinder (TWICE, Girli) give the song a subtle stylistic change back to the sleek, smooth sounds of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.

Harriet says, “I performed ‘Symphony’ on ‘The Outcome’ tour with my band and it went down so well live that we have decided to release it. We put a ‘70s yacht rock spin on it and I can’t wait for you to hear it!”

Harriet put ‘The Outcome’ in the spotlight with two singles. First ‘Story of Your Life’ felt like the missing moment in the musical family tree between ABBA and Coldplay, and then ‘Heartbreak Holiday’ channelled the contemporary pop-country scene with vibrant touches of swirling ‘60s girl group harmonies and a little ‘70s glam-rock stomp for good measure. Both songs capture Harriet’s talent for writing songs which use vulnerable personal experiences as the impetus for positive, uplifting messages.

The album itself is full of heart, sweet melodies and sublime singalong choruses, which reflects both Harriet’s love of Karen Carpenter and Carole King as well as the famous Nordic pop tradition – a natural development as it was written and recorded over the course of several trips to Sweden. In addition to the #7 position it achieved on the Official Record Store Chart, the album also rose to #5 on the Official Independent Album Breakers Chart and #17 on the Official Independent Albums Chart.

There will be much more to come from Harriet in 2024 as she plans to connect with her new TikTok fans with a fresh IRL tour. For now, though, keep her ‘Symphony’ on repeat.
