30th March 2023, London, UK – Following their acclaimed projects with RUN DMC, Swizz Beatz, Takashi Murakami and Travis Scott x Saint Laurent, celebrated vinyl record lifestyle brand 12on12 announce their latest co-creation with the 2x GRAMMY nominated DJ & producer Steve Aoki and iconic artist Richard Orlinski. Living at the intersection of music and art, 12on12 provides cultural icons with a unique canvas for storytelling through collectable vinyl records.
The pioneering producer, DJ, artist and Dim Mak Records founder Steve Aoki has curated an exclusive limited edition 12″ vinyl-only compilation with original artwork from the biggest-selling contemporary French artist in the world, Richard Orlinski. Highlighting the unique relationship between art and music 12on12 brings the two mediums together to commemorate a shared sentiment between the artists, memorialised on exclusive pieces to be collected and treasured. Steve Aoki’s 12on12 (12 tracks on 12″ Vinyl) is an exclusive package limited to 500 records featuring a meticulously selected track list celebrating Steve Aoki’s straight-edge hardcore roots. Steve’s track selections take the listener on a journey through the songs that helped form his sonic foundations and embody the unexpected story of punk music’s influence on his meteoric rise to superstar DJ.
Steve Aoki says: “My 12on12 celebrates the music that made me who I am today. Through hardcore, I discovered a true sense of community and the power of DIY — doing it yourself, by any means necessary.”
The world’s biggest-selling contemporary French artist Richard Orlinski art directs the collaboration and has created a unique original character, ‘Punk Kong,’ exclusively for this 12on12. The vinyl release is accompanied by 40 hand-numbered and hand finished artist edition vinyl’s, 12 hand finished and signed prints and lifestyle fashion pieces featuring this original artwork.
The collaboration was a natural fit for Orlinski, who is well known for his passion for music and is a successful DJ in his own right.
Richard Olinski says: “I’ve always said that art has no boundaries. Music and especially vinyl, is very important in my life, I’m a DJ myself, so it’s something that is very close to my heart. Working with an artist like Steve Aoki with such a special universe has been an honour, and mixing our two worlds between music and art to create this artwork with 12on12 is unique.”

‘Year Zero’ will be premiered on the 28th of April at an exclusive launch event on the world’s most beautiful avenue, the Champs-Elysées, at Galeries Lafayette – Paris’ most iconic department store. With artists Steve Aoki and Richard Orlinski in attendance, the event will feature live music, art and a panel discussion with the artists.
