What is the story behind ‘Replay’?
Great song, the original. Doing a cover of it was pitched to me by RCA and of course I accepted. I also have a connection with the song because I was performing it in cover bands for years before I ever recorded it myself.
Do you feel a certain pressure with ‘Replay’ after the success of your previous singles including ‘Iko Iko’ and Runaway?
Yes definitely I do feel some pressure. I think it’s mainly because I want to do a good job and do it justice and for people to love it.
What is your process when you are songwriting?
Always melody first. To me that is the most important part of the song. Then I’ll produce a rough demo of it to use as a guide… And this part usually still has gibberish words in it. Writing the actual words are usually the last part of songwriting for me… go figure lol
Having worked with Small Jam in the past have you plans to work together again?
Not at this stage, no.
Any other collaborations in the pipeline you can talk about?
Yes I’m writing and recording a few very cool collaborations…mainly with pacific artists…but some Europeans too. Can’t wait!

Having been making music for the last 20 years, what have been some of your most memorable experiences and what have you learned along the way?
Definitely, the last 2 years have been the most memorable especially with Iko Iko going viral… and all the success from that. The other special part of my career has been traveling…to all the amazing and exotic places….such a blessing!
With the following you have on TikTok and the general way Tik Tok is so popular with musicians etc do you think social media is an easier way for music to be heard and gain a wider reaction from music fans?
Absolutely social media is a very decisive tool and channel for artists to gain fans and success. You could say I owe Tik Tok a lot, and also all the people who posted videos of the dance.
Do you have an album to be released?
Mainly working on singles at this point.
Touring plans?
Oh yes, please! Oh, that wasn’t a question, hahaha. Yes, I’m constantly traveling and performing and I really hope that I’ll be able to come and perform, maybe even tour, in Europe this year.
