Ghita

Unrestricted by sonic or geographic boundaries, Ghita’s vision has created a style of futuristic pop with an appeal that stretches across the continents. Tastemakers on both sides of the Atlantic have heralded her huge potential, with plaudits including ClashHigh Snobiety, IdolatorNotionPAPER and Wonderland. She’s being discovered by a growing fanbase, earning 3 million streams at Spotify plus 1.2 million views at YouTube in just a few early releases.

Following the success of Real Lies remix featuring  CKay, Ghita now shares the new single ‘No Stopping’ as she gears up for the release of her debut EP ‘LOST ANGELES’ on December 10th. She co-wrote the track with the Grammy-nominated Kimberly ‘Kaydence’ Krysiuk (Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings’) and Casolina, with production from 9AM (Ty Dolla $ign, Jason Derulo).

While Ghita is still very much a rising talent, ‘No Stopping’ possesses the class and maturity of a seasoned artist. Its meditative aura blends modern production flourishes within a spacious slowburning ballad. Meanwhile Ghita’s beautiful tone balances the purity of the song’s sentiment with the astute taste not to overplay its drama. It’s an utterly confident performance, but one that was inspired by a fleeting moment of self-doubt.

“‘No Stopping’ is about me feeling very down about my career in L.A.,” says Ghita“I was writing to feel better and, more importantly, to remind myself who I really am inside, which is not someone who gives up easily. I connected really well with Kaydence and Casolina. We were trying to write a song that would mean something to all of us, and they helped me turn my pain into something beautiful.”

‘No Stopping’ is released alongside an elegant, minimalist video that was filmed in the lake Bin el Ouidane in Morroco and directed by the Moroccan filmmaker Netstyle. The director, real name Younes Jourrane, shares the aesthetic that Ghita created with her self-directed video for ‘On My Mind’

‘No Stopping’ and ‘On My Mind’ feature on the upcoming ‘LOST ANGELES’ EP alongside Ghita’s other recent singles ‘Real Lies’ and ‘Out of My Life’. It will be completed by two as yet unreleased tracks in the shape of ‘Not That Guy’ and ‘Satisfied’.

Ghita’s melting pot of influences sets her apart from the pack. On one hand she’s inspired by North African rhythms and the vibrant world of Afrobeats, but the time she spends in London and Los Angeles adds electrifying elements of R&B, rap and hip-hop. She was raised between her homeland of Morocco and Switzerland. It was an upbringing that exposed her to contrasting cultures throughout her childhood, which ultimately also influences her music and vocal style. She left Switzerland to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
