TORS SHARE THE SINGLE ‘GARDEN ON THE KITCHEN FLOOR’ & ON TOUR WITH X AMBASSADORS IN SEPTEMBER

Between their own releases and co-writes with the likes of Declan J Donovan (‘Perfectly Imperfect’) and Dean Lewis (‘Need You Now’), the indie-pop trio Tors have already amassed 500 million streams and landed on both Radio 1 and Radio 2. Along the way they’ve also sold-out several London headline shows venues such as the ScalaSt. Pancras Old Churchand Omeara. Now after an eighteen-month absence, Tors kick-start a big return by sharing the new single ‘Garden On The Kitchen Floor’. It comes as they prepare to embark upon a tour as guests to X Ambassadors in September. Listen HERE Watch the live performance video HERE.

Having taken a little time out of the scene to re-evaluate their sound and style, ‘Garden On The Kitchen Floor’ shows that their decision was well founded. Romantic and nostalgic, the song reflects on the early days of a relationship in which love triumphed over challenging circumstances. It shows that Tors excel at the things that win the hearts and minds of fans – big melodies, big harmonies, tender emotions and unforgettable hooks – and proves that they have an anthemic, radio-friendly sound that can win a huge following across the world.

Tors commented, “‘Garden on the Kitchen Floor’ is a really special return to releasing music for us – a bittersweet realisation that the moments you struggled most in were the happiest you had and a reminder to give yourself fully to life as it’s happening, not in retrospect. Coming out of a year of lockdowns and sudden, forced introspection definitely taught us to appreciate the moments we’re given in all their glory and ugliness.

While the world stopped for a minute we were locked away writing and re-envisioning what Tors could and should be moving forward. With over 100 new songs and a worldwide publishing deal with the amazing team at Reservoir, we finally feel ready to throw ourselves back into releasing music and playing shows again. Tors are back and life couldn’t be better.”

The song was produced by Tors with Brad Mair (KygoMartin Garrix), and was written by the band with The Thistle Brothers.

The accompanying live performance of the video is filmed at the Thorverton Arms, a pub just north of Exeter where the band bring collaborators such as Declan J Donovan and Marius Bear for impromptu performances and pints. With a stripped-back arrangement backed by just piano and guitar, Tors showcase the tightly-honed, heavy vocal harmonies that gives their sound such a warm, uplifting feeling.

Since forming in Devon in 2016, Tors have released a succession of singles and the ‘Wilder Days’ EP, and they have played shows with artists including Tom WalkerJohn Newman and Picture This. The band features Jack Bowden along with  brothers Matt and Theo Weedon, whose grandfather, Bert Weedon OBE, was one of the all-time most influential guitarists. He scored a Top 10 hit in 1959 with the single ‘Guitar Boogie Shuffle’ and then hit #1 on the album charts in 1976 with ‘22 Golden Guitar Hits’, but he’s best remembered for his ‘Play in a Day’ books, which inspired a generation of musicians to learn to play guitar. He also taught many of the world’s most influential musicians, most notably John Lennon, Paul McCartneyBrian May and Pete Townshend
