Nick Wilson enjoyed a big moment this week when his song ‘Lose Myself’ picked up a wave of attention after featuring on ‘Love Island’. Rush released in just two days, the phenomenal reaction fired Nick back into the Top 10 of the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. An already great week was topped off when he duetted with fellow rising star Grace Grundy on her new EP ‘Paper, Bleach & Indigo’.

That latest burst of attention picked up the pace ahead of the August 27th release of Nick’s long-awaited debut album ‘Now I’m Falling’ via Never Fade Records. And Nick shows no sign of slowing down as he today shares another collaboration, this time with a feature from Gabrielle Aplin on a new version of ‘Love Can Be So Lonely, Sometimes’.  LISTEN HERE.

A song which bravery uses a vast expanse of space to underline its emotional impact, the original version of ‘Love Can Be So Lonely, Sometimes’ is a defining focal point of the album. Gabrielle Aplin’s contribution doesn’t dramatically rework the song, but nor does she need to. Instead the simple beauty of their contrasting voices is a reminder that love can hurt for us all, regardless of gender or sexuality. It’s a subtle twist on a song that Nick wrote with Joe Keogh of Amber Run, with production from Martin Luke Brown and Mark Elliott.

Nick says, “When me and Joshua Keogh were writing ‘Love Can Be So Lonely, Sometimes’, there was always a part of us that loved the idea of treating the song as a duet in some way. I’m so lucky to have Gabrielle Aplin lend her gorgeous voice to the song. I’ve always been a huge fan of hers, and I think the intimate, vulnerable side of the song has flourished in this version. I love it when a duet fits effortlessly and this was definitely the case working with Gabrielle.”

Gabrielle adds, I love this song and I’m so happy Nick asked to record a version with me! I’ve performed and written with nick a few times now and being a part of the same label family made it feel super natural to collaborate with each other on a song!”

‘Now I’m Falling’ feels like a diary of confessional diary entries in song forms, its previous singles (also including  ‘Yours To Take’, ‘Say Something’ and ‘Lead Me To The Water’) charting the power and fragility that new love brings to our lives. Their unrestrained sentiments are the result of Nick rethinking his approach to music: he discovered the confidence that comes with writing songs that are natural and unforced rather than over-perfecting every last detail or worrying about issues out of his control. As a consequence, ‘Now I’m Falling’ introduces us to who Nick really is, both as an artist and as a person.

‘Now I’m Falling’ is available to pre-save or pre-add here.

There’s every chance Nick and Gabrielle will have the opportunity to perform ‘Love Can Be So Lonely, Sometimes’ together when he joins her on tour next March. He will also follow the album’s release by hitting the road as guest to Emily Burns thisSeptember. The dates are:
