within UK soul” – Rolling Stone UK

sound like the last days of summer” – Notion
“If you’re into butter-soft vocals and soulful sounds, look no
further” – Hypebae
Soul powerhouse Nectar Woode closes out a standout year with ‘Only Want You’, a soulful, seasonal ballad out today.
Capturing the bittersweet feeling of the festive season, ‘Only Want You’ explores the longing to be with someone special at a time of year traditionally centred around love, connection and togetherness. Wrapped in Nectar’s signature soulful warmth, the track reflects on how even the most perfect day can feel incomplete when the person you want beside you is out of reach.
Speaking about the single, Nectar says: “Let me set the scene: it’s cold, wintery and heading towards that festive time of year. This is the perfect moment to spend time with those you love. This song is about me wanting to spend it with that special person, but we can’t be together. It could have been the perfect day if I could spend it with my love. It’s something we all feel as it gets to the festive period and we can’t spend it with that special person. This is one for the yearners.”
Following a landmark year that has seen her sell out headline shows across the UK, including an iconic performance at London’s KOKO, as well as her European run, Nectar Woode continues to establish herself as one of the most exciting voices in a new wave of UK soul. With performances spanning Japan and Australia, her growing international profile reflects the reach of her distinctive sound.
Her acclaimed nine-track project Naturally showcased her ability to balance candid introspection with rich, uplifting soul, exploring themes of self-love, acceptance, relationships and the complexities of growing into yourself. Featuring the poignant ‘Roses In The Dark’, which earned Nectar her second BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record of the year, alongside ‘Wine Into Water’, featuring Elton John on piano, the project marked a significant moment in her artistic journey.
With numerous sold-out shows, international performances and a growing catalogue of acclaimed releases behind her, Nectar Woode closes the year having taken significant steps forward as an artist. As she looks towards the next chapter, ‘Only Want You’ sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting period ahead.
