THE FIRST SONG FROM HER UPCOMING DEBUT EP
Fresh from collaborating with the Grammy-nominated Crate Classics (Jamie Rodigan and Aaron Horn) on their recent track ‘Waiting For You (GOLD)’, Aphrah now sparks upon her immensely promising solo career with the brand new single ‘Silhouette’. It’s the first track to be released from her upcoming debut EP. Listen HERE. Watch the lyric video HERE. With ‘Silhouette’, Aphrah carves herself a space in the alt-pop landscape, a place where her honest, heartfelt lyrics explore the melancholy of self-doubt but emerge with a new-found sense of empowerment. The production further heightens those raw emotions as ethereal electronic elements and chiming piano melody unmask feelings that flow in a narrative that moves from vulnerable to powerfully determined. Aphrah says, “Exploring themes of body image, disordered eating and fitting into society’s standards of beauty, ‘Silhouette’ is a song about breaking out of the shadows, taking the listener on a journey of discovering your worth, stepping into your full self and knowing that you are more than enough.” Aphrah wrote the song with an all-female team, Jessica Sharman (Hannah Grace) and solo artist LANTA (Conor Maynard), with production courtesy of Rhiannon Mair (Laura Brehm), with Jessica Sharman also providing additional production. ‘Silhouette’ is released alongside a lyric video which captures the song’s journey from inner turmoil to growing self-confidence. It was created by the animator Sophya Kebets, who was nominated for Best Micro Short at the BFI Future Film Festival. ‘Silhouette’ and the majority of Aphrah’s upcoming debut EP were written in the aftermath of the pandemic, a time at which themes of healing the challenges of mental health, body image, depression and anxiety were particularly inspiring. Between the new EP and her other upcoming projects, Aphrah’s recent collaborators also include Jez Ashurst (Maisie Peters),Emma Rohan (James Arthur) and Jack Gourlay (Tom Odell). The Kent-based artist has released a handful of tracks prior to this release, with support coming from BBC Introducing, XS Noize and more. A remix of her track ‘Another Night’ from The Vanguard Project (Spearhead Records) was particularly impactful, leading to Radio 1 airplay and extensive playlist support at Spotify. ‘Silhouette’ opens up her next stage, with new songs that are ripe for wider discovery.
