Support Acts Confirmed For Intimate Live Shows

In Support of War Child UK’s ‘Day Of The Girl’ Campaign’

With YouTube Music

As part of War Child UK’s ‘Day Of The Girl’ Campaign With YouTube Music, the specialist charity has today announced further details of their ‘Women in Music and Creative Industries Panel Day‘. The event will take place at Google Digital Studios, Pancras Square, London 9th of October and aims to help inspire the next generation of female identifying leaders in the music and creative industries.

The ‘Women in Music and Creative Industries Panel Day’ event is where some of the music industry’s brightest minds come together to discuss key issues affecting women while celebrating their incredible achievements. This year, highly acclaimed British pop artists and Day of the Girl alumni, Caity Baser will be the keynote interviewee. The panel event topics are:

  • Celebrating Success: Inspiring Stories from Women in Creative Industries
  • Advocacy Through Music: Women Leading Change
  • YouTube Presents: Creative Entrepreneurs: The Next Generation
  • On Stage and Beyond: Women Leading in Live Music

The 2023 event was a highlight, hosted by the charismatic Kemi Rogers and featured a powerful keynote interview with Mae Muller. The discussions centred on empowering excellence in the music industry, championing women in leadership, and breaking down barriers to accessing pathways into the industry.

Brazylleo, GIRLBAND!, Liang Lawrence and Chi have been confirmed as the support acts for the intimate live shows taking place in venues across London throughout the week commencing 7th October.

Brazy will join Bree Runway as she kicks off the series of shows on 8th October at Lafayette, London.

lleo and GIRLBAND! will join alternative rock artist RØRY at 100 Club, London, also on 8th October. British pop superstar lleo will bring their expressive vocals and distinctive sounds before Nottingham three-piece GIRLBAND! bring their joyous mix of pop, punk and indie.

Liang Lawrence will support Indie-folk artist Matilda Mann at Lafayette, London on 9th October. Fans can expect raw and honest music that leans into indie folk, soft rock and electronic territories.

Chi will support Connie Constance at The Lexington, London on 12th October, to close out ‘Day of the Girl’ in style.

The Day of the Girl shows are more than just performances; they are a lifeline for girls and women surviving war.

Gender inequality escalates to alarming levels in areas affected by crisis. Those assigned female at birth are at a 20% higher risk of child marriage and are 2.5 times more likely to be out of school. 1 in 5 girls and women suffer sexual violence and often can’t access healthcare.

This has devastating impacts on their health, wellbeing and their future. Girls and women didn’t start these wars, yet they are paying the price. That’s why the Day of the Girl shows are vital.

Taking place around the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child, the shows highlight War Child’s work protecting, educating, and advocating for the rights of girls and women amidst the turmoil of war.

Clare Sanders-Wright, Live Music Lead at War Child said: “Thank you to all the supports and headliners who are backing War Child through Day of the Girl. The concerts will again prove to be an incredible showcase of female identifying artists who are not just brilliant musicians and performers but also taking a stand to support women and girls facing conflict and war.

“We are also delighted to be hosting four Day of the Girl panel events this year. Artists, experts and content creators will be there to engage with fans and those already working within the creative industries alike, to help inspire and support the next generation of women within the music and wider industries succeed.”

The event’s headline sponsor is YouTube Music, an app made for music listening on top of the magic of YouTube: making the world of music easier to explore and more personalised than ever.

Lizzie Dickson, Head of YouTube Music UK said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with War Child for their annual Day of The Girl gigs. We endeavour to celebrate and champion women artists on and off our platform year-round- so it’s a privilege to be part of this series of events which showcases exciting new female talent as well as raising critical funding to support girls and young women around the world.”

Shows will also be part-sponsored by Women of YouTube, as part of their global events series YouTube Creator Collective, which will see the Women of YouTube creator community invited to come together and join our shows.
