| 2023 saw Tors dash from highlight-to-highlight, taking in their first playlists at BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, selling out their first UK headline tour, a sold-out headline gig in New York and playing shows with the likes of Cian Ducrot, Sam Ryder, Freya Ridings and Tom Walker. They’re now again raising the bar in 2024, first with a European run as guests to James Blunt and then with their biggest UK headline tour. Now they release their first single of the year in the shape of ‘Happy Enough’ ahead of a new EP this spring. Listen HERE. |
Tors commented, “‘Happy Enough’ is a song about the dangers of pursuing happiness, chasing a feeling you know you can’t sustain. In this life we’re taught to measure our worth in success, money and legacy leaving most of us scared we’ve wasted our time and worried about what we’ll leave behind. So we run headfirst into quick fixes and simulations of happiness that leave us lower than where we started, instead of processing our emotions and the ebb and flow of the human condition. Happiness is only part of what makes life worth living and like the best things it doesn’t last forever.”
Like the recent single ‘Tell You’, Tors wrote the song with its producer Simone Felice (Noah Kahan, The Lumineers, Jade Bird) during sessions at Applehead Recording Studios near Woodstock.
Tors are a band with a rich family heritage in music. Brothers Matt and Theo Weedon are the grandchildren of Burt Weedon OBE, whose ‘Play In A Day’ tutorial books helped numerous leading guitarists in the ‘60s and ‘70s to take their first steps as musicians, while Jack Bowden’s mother and sister are both music teachers. They also apply that innate talent as co-writers, achieving 500 million+ streams for their work with Declan J Donovan, Dean Lewis, Nick Wilson and The Wandering Hearts. The band have made their musicianship one of their most engaging traits, with regular songs teasers which see the trio strip songs back to pure vocal harmonies, often in beautifully serene locations.
Tors have continued to make an impact internationally with multiple top 100 airplay placements in Germany and they have just announced their first US tour which sold out within a few hours in pre-sale, with the help of this video that went viral. Watch it HERE. They’re also confirmed to play the Bottlerock festival in the US on the same stage as Ed Sheeran on 26th May 2024.
In the UK, their most recent show was one of the most memorable of their career: a special Tors and Friends performance in a 1000-year-old barn near their HQ in Devon. Next comes the following UK headline tour. The initial Newcastle show rapidly sold-out, leading to an upgraded venue with three times the capacity, while Bristol and Manchester are also on the verge of selling out.
