25th February 2022, London, UK – With their debut album fast-approaching Ferris and Sylvester share one last teaser in the form of “Darkness I Feel”; a reassuring reminder to trust the people around you.
Exploring the pair’s faith in humanity, rather than a higher power, the new track wrestles with hope and despair as they try to answer what they describe as “the album’s big question – ‘how do we become something more, something Superhuman?’”
As the final song written for the record, the charming pseudo-hymn sees Archie take lead vocals with his low timbre offering a warmth as he wrestles with this existential crisis. Supported by Issy’s soothing mantra, the track sees the pair at their most raw and vulnerable, searching for the light they both provide each other.
“This is a song about what’s important, about understanding the power of human friendships and the magic that exists right in front of you…,” they explain. “It is learning how to make sense of loneliness when you don’t have a faith to attach it to. It is believing in people and embracing everything that makes us human (we are not superhuman). Full circle, right?”
The release of ‘Darkness I Feel’ continues Ferris & Sylvester’s journey towards the release of their debut album. Written over the span of two years across hotels rooms, splitter vans and every nook and cranny of their globetrotting existence Superhuman’ was brought to life as they escaped to the countryside, embraced the charm of Cottagecore and discovered a life away from touring, where writing and recording was sandwiched between hiking, knitting and growing their own food.
The 12 track album – recorded in Seattle USA with Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, The Strokes), and Cornwall UK with Michael Rendall (Pink Floyd, Youth) takes the listener on a journey through the duo’s world where genres intertwine and emotions are stripped down to the core. The word on Ferris & Sylvester continues to spread. Fusing blues, Folk and rock’n’roll sensibilities, their sound lands somewhere between Alabama Shakes, Jack White and First Aid Kit.
With singles ‘Superhuman’, ‘Golden’ and ‘Breadwinner’ already unleashed, the duo have continued to sell out tours on both sides of the Atlantic, landed coveted spots on Spotify tastemaker playlists, earned a place on BBC Introducing’s ‘Best of 2021’ list and received support from the likes of Sunday Brunch, The Independent & Clash Magazine. Set to return to SXSW this March, Ferris & Sylvester will also head out on UK and North American tours this spring and summer.
