Cassa Jackson Music Promotions Interview

The Future of Pop Music Cassa Jackson new single “The Guy I Never Dated” out now. Stream today.

From supporting blue, to Lucy Spragan and her own headline show plus a brand new single which is out now, Cassa has been keeping busy. She also spoke to Music Promotions about touring, new music, creative process, Writing songs and much more.
  1. You’re single  ‘THE GUY I NEVER DATED’ does “he” know it’s about him?

He does actually! A few of my songs are about him and he knows that and we joke about it. We’re on good terms now and I think he finds it quite funny and low key loves it. He texted me when the song was released and said his friends were making fun of him because apparently there is a joke that he only wears the same t-shirt!

  1. Your songs are very relatable, can you write a song at any time or do you have to be in the right place, right mind send?

Thank you. I just write about things that have happened to me. A lot of the time I just write lyrics down in my notes app on the train or on planes. I never want to force anything in a session so it’s always good if I’ve already written down my feelings at the time of feeling them.

  1. What is your creative process?

I start with a voice note of a melody that I might have thought of in the middle of the night or whenever. Then I like to delve into the lyrics which are really important to me. For me, a song needs to tell a story and I think that’s what makes them relatable because I’m just being honest with my lyrics.

  1. Do you have any more singles coming before you release a new EP or album?

My next release is an EP full of upbeat summery feel good songs. I’m now writing happy songs because I’m finally in a good, healthy relationship, so it’s been a bit of a change for me! Really excited to get them out though and start this new era.

  1. Are you working on an album? Yes…I’ve spent a lot of time writing this year and I’m so excited to show everyone.
  2. What is the hardest song you’ve written and the easiest?

Easiest was a song called ‘Sophie’. My ex went off with the girl he told me not to worry about and I was so upset about it that I wrote the song the day I found out and it basically wrote itself. Now I love singing it because I’ve turned a fairly sad situation into an upbeat banger.

Hardest was probably a song called ‘Crossroad’. It was such a sensitive subject and it was quite hard to put into words how I was feeling, but i’m glad I persevered because I really captured how I felt in that moment in time and I think it’s a beautifully sad song.

  1. How was supporting Lucy Spragan?

Awesome! Her fans are so dedicated and would queue up for hours before each show so it was lovely to play for an audience that really listened.

  1. You supported Blue last year with B*witched and Megan McKenna what was that like for you? (You was amazing btw)

Awh thank you! That was such a fun tour. I have such great memories. We were playing epic venues, the guys were so welcoming and Bewitched and Megan were great vibes too. Also playing the 02 arena was very cool.

  1. What can you tell us about your headline show that’s coming up?

I cannot wait for my headline. It’s been a while since I’ve done my own show, so this one is gonna be all out. I’ll be playing all my biggest songs with my band. It’ll be a sassy group therapy session. I also can’t wait to play to an audience of fans that have come specifically for me and know all the words. It’s going to be very special.

  1. Have you any plans for any more supports or your own headline shows?

I am definitely keen to do my own headline tour so that is something that is in the pipeline..watch this space!

  1. As it’s festival time, any festivals you’re going to and or performing at?

I’ve just performed at Mello Festival main stage which weirdly was also the same day as Blue and Aston Merrygold – who I’ve supported before! So it was a lovely reunion. Next up is OceanFest Main Stage next week which is with Thomas Headon and Dizzie Rascal! Then later this summer am performing at others including Latitude and CarFest so it’s going to be a busy summer!

  1. What’s the best concert you’ve been to as a fan?

I recently went to see Machine Gun Kelly at the Royal Albert Hall and I think I’d have to say that! Really cool venue and he’s such an epic performer it was a fab night.

  1. Last words from you?

I’ll end with what I end my set on stage with. If you’re relating too hard to my songs up until now, dump them. It’s crazy how many people have related to my songs and it shows that we all need to raise our standards and be treated how we deserve. But yeh new happy era incoming…long overdue
