THE ‘FOOS GONE WILD’ PHENOMENON GOES GLOBAL

Seven-time GRAMMY® Award-winning, multi-platinum global visionary will.i.amreturns today with a booming summer anthem that pays tribute to his East L.A. roots: “Sick Ass Foos” featuring Lil Mr. E of Foos Gone Wild alongside newcomer Toxica. With a crisp electro beat, a little bit of humor, and a lot of style, the single celebrates not just Chicano culture, but also everyone out there proudly representing where they come from.

Get “Sick Ass Foos” HERE at all DSPs via Epic Records/RCA Records UK.

Foos Gone Wild has swept social media, music, and fashion by carrying the torch for — and lovingly parodying — life in the barrio. It’s a world will.i.am knows and speaks about dearly, having grown up in Boyle Heights’ Estrada Courts housing project, and the song ties that rich lineage directly to West Coast rap history with ’80s-inspired production and reference-packed bars. The result is more than nostalgia — it’s recognition and respect for the people and places that shape our world.

Produced by will.i.am, “Sick Ass Foos” rides out on pounding kick drums, keyboard claps, and crystal-clear hi-hats before sliding into an infectious synth line. Lil Mr. E drops a story rap about a fateful day when he ran out of cold ones, yet kept his cool: “Don’t you know? / I’m that foo with the highest socks.” will.i.am then takes us on a verbal tour of his roots: “What’s up, puto? Call me Choco / Coulda been, woulda been a Black Cholo / Running through the hood, that was my cardio / Raised by the wolves, I love my barrio.”

Though will.i.am keeps dizzyingly busy working across music, technology, and culture, his latest song connects directly to his previous solo single, “EAST LA” featuring fellow Black Eyed Peas member Taboo. Blending personal storytelling with cultural pride, the song was released in the summer of 2025 in direct response to the resilience and unity of the region during the ICE raids impacting immigrant neighborhoods in Los Angeles and across the country. The original reimagined Santana’s classic “Maria Maria,” shouted out the Los Angeles Football Club, and arrived alongside a moving music video directed by will.i.am and Sterling Hampton IV. Then, in November, will.i.am delivered the spirited “WE LA (EAST LA REMIX),” a high-energy reinvention in honor of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series championship and the unity inspired by that historic victory. Mixing Latin-inflected rhythms with West Coast beats, he and Taboo transformed the song into a citywide anthem — one that celebrates every corner of L.A.

In May, will.i.am and Taboo joined apl.de.ap and Fergie onstage at the 52nd American Music Awards to accept the trophy for Best Throwback Song for Black Eyed Peas’ 2010 hit “Rock That Body.” The group then embarked on an European summer festival and arena tour that wrapped up earlier this month. Always pushing boundaries and embracing innovation, will.i.am continues to elevate his artistry to unprecedented heights across projects and endeavors throughout 2026. But with “Sick Ass Foos,” he gives us a little something for the LA summer.
