Taylor’s tenth studio album, Midnights, is the fast-selling album of 2022 in the UK and has accumulated over 250,000 sales to date. Meanwhile, “Anti-Hero”, which was the Biggest Spotify UK debut from an international artist in history and was streamed over 7 million times in the UK this week, climbs to number 2 in the UK Airplay chart.
Earlier this week Taylor scored one of the most historic weeks in the 64-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart as she became the first artist to claim the survey’s entire top 10 in a single frame, with all 10 songs in the Hot 100’s top tier from Midnights. This marks the first time in Billboard Hot 100songs chart history that a male artist or act has not appeared in the Top 10. Midnights is the first album ever with as many 10 Hot 100 top 10s.
Blasting in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the biggest week for any release in seven years, Taylor’s Midnights landed as the biggest album of the decade and the biggest debut of her career with nearly 1.6 million total consumption in the US. It broke the record for biggest vinyl sales week for any album ever, and saw Taylor become the #1 Best Selling Artist By Total Album Units in the US in 2022 and the only artist to have five debuts with over 1 million units sold in their first week in US Nielsen history.
Globally, Taylor’s Midnights surpassed 1 Billion Global Album streams in under one week, a new career high, accumulated over 3 million album equivalents and topped albums charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and US. Midnights broke the record for biggest first week global Spotify streams for any album in five days of release, seeing Taylor become the Most Streamed Female Artist is Spotify history and accumulated the biggest first week global streams for any album in Amazon Music history.
