On the new single and music video Bay said: “I wanted this song to feel huge and emotional. It’s about that moment when you feel like the sun is beginning to set on a relationship, it’s about the fight to stay together. I want it to explode with energy when I play it live. It’s about feeling your heart beat fast and love racing through your veins.”
Bay opens “Give Me The Reason” with soaring vocals and draws listeners in with his profound signature lyrics. The new song was recorded at both Blackbird studios in Nashville and in London with producer Gabe Simon [Lana Del Rey ] and co-written with Foy Vance and features Ian Fitchuk[Kacey Musgraves, Karen Elson, Bret Eldridge) on drums.
The track is the first song off Bay’s new album due out later this year which he teased on his recent sold-out “New Songs New Stories” UK Tour, in support of Independent Venue Week. During the intimate tour, he gave fans a sneak peak of the music they can anticipate on the new record and recently shared snippets of the songs on socials- Check them out here.
In April, James heads out on the road in the UK for the first time in three years with his band. Then later in the summer joins The Lumineers on their US 2022 Brightside World Tour.
