George Cosby’s recent releases, the EP ‘We Stand Alone’ and his previous single ‘Lonely Heartbeats’, have seen the audio auteur’s suave, stylish pop enamour growing tastemaker support. Greeted by wide-ranging airplay (a Radio 2 playlist plus spins at BBC Introducing and Radio 5), his romantic, widescreen songwriting has also earned support on key Apple Music playlists including New in Pop, New Music Daily and Today’s Easy Hits. He also reached new audiences whenBBC1 used his song ‘She Got It Bad’ in their daily update of the latest medals awarded in the Winter Olympics

George now follows ‘Lonely Heartbeats’ with the brand new track ‘Man On A Road’ as he prepares to unveil further new releases soon. Listen HERE.

Opening with stark piano which immediately establishes its sentimental style, ‘Man On A Road’ is one of George’s most affecting slow-burners to date. It certainly pays off, however, as the production unfolds into luscious layers of opulent orchestration with a thrilling, theatrical edge. George’s forlorn baritone examines the nuances of wanting to move forward with a relationship, even if its future is far from certain – a metaphor that can also be applied to music.

George says, “‘Man On A Road’ is a tune from the beginning, written in LA five years ago. Time has gone so fast! Its creation brought me to Oli Bayston, a fabulous human and now dear friend. We’ve gone on to produce a lot of music together. Music has always and continues to feel like a journey, never quite certain where your heading but the love keeps you on the path. This song is an exploration of that idea.”

George wrote ‘Man On A Road’ with the track’s producer Oli Bayston (Loyle CarnerRachel Chinouriri) and the Grammy,BRIT and Ivor Novello nominee Jennifer Decilveo (Anne-MarieAndra Day’s ‘Rise Up’).

George Cosby explores the spectrum of the many facets of romance, channelling everything from infatuation to brief encounters within the full majesty of his velveteen vocal. Both his music and his wider aesthetic possesses an exquisite, timeless elegance which makes him a kindred spirit to two of the creative forces he most admires: Leonard Cohen and ‘The Great Beauty’ director Paolo Sorrentino. Operating in a space informed by both modernism and poignant nostalgia, he feels like a spiritual male equivalent to Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine or Arlo Parks.

Having recently headlined a show at Soho House in BarcelonaGeorge Cosby will headline a show in London at St. Pancras Old Church on 5th May.  Tickets are available here.
