SHE is an eclectic body of work which continues to showcase JP’s prolific song writing skills as well as ability to tap into different genres, from the anthemic “Pretender” to the retro “Signs.” There is something for everyone.
The 13- track record includes many songs that are inspired by experiences he’s had with women throughout his life and taught him valuable lessons that have helped him grow into the person he is today.
Speaking more about the album release, JP says:
“I can’t believe it’s been four years since the release of my debut album…I’m still amazed at how it was received and how many people it has reached. They say your second album is the hardest to write, maybe that’s why it’s taken me so long to finish, but the process hasn’t been all that tough. After such a successful first album it would be easy to feel the pressure to deliver again, but I’ve been shown such consistent love by the folk that listen to my music that I’ve not felt it…I’ve definitely grown as a person and as an artist during these years and I think that you’ll be able to hear that in the record.
I decided to name the album “SHE” as a tip of the hat to all of the women in my life who have delivered me some of the most necessary challenges and given me so many opportunities to grow…from my mum who I lost when I was a child, to growing up with four sisters, to the mother of my eldest son, to my wife Lauren…I’m grateful for all of the lessons, however difficult they were to process…I’m so lucky to have had these people in my life.
I could waffle on about what the record sounds like but I’m hoping that if you’re reading this, you’ll find the time to give it a listen.
I can only hope it reaches as many people as the first and I can’t wait to get out and play it live for you. Until then here “SHE” is.”
The album includes his recent breath taking single, “Need You Tonight” featuring the one and only, Ray BLK which has gained over 4.5 million streams and recently added to the BBC Radio 2 playlist. Further tracks include his infectious upbeat track “Call My Name” and gospel-tinged track “Holy Water”. All singles were also accompanied by music videos that followed the story of a father and daughter’s relationship, as well as gospel and acoustic versions.
