Jules Buckley teamed up with the Heritage Orchestra and Ghost-Note to recently release the album ‘The Breaks’, a labour of love and a celebration of hip-hop culture’s breaks scene. Now he puts the album back in the spotlight by sharing a brand new video for its key track and show-stopping finale ‘X Breaks’. Watch itHERE.

And who better to embody the sheer energy of ‘X Breaks’ than the UK’s premier b-boy crew Soul Mavericks? Represented by SpinJ.J. ChrisReckless Lee and Fran, they tear through an exhilarating performance of striking, intense and highly dexterous moves, set to a seamless cut of iconic breaks spanning everyone from Bob James to Clyde Stubblefield.

Their performance is enhanced by director Simon Lane, whose rapid edits, choice of locations and grainy visual aesthetic evokes the heyday of the b-boy scene.   Jules was eager to collaborate with the Soul Mavericks again after he worked with them on his innovative BBC Prom ‘The Breaks’ at the Royal Albert Hall in 2019. Their reunion celebrates that the breaking scene is still vibrant in cities across the world, with new crews continuing the style and taking it in new directions.   Established in 2005 by DJ RenegadeSoul Mavericks’ main objective is to represent UK b-boying at its highest level, competing both at home and internationally. Their members are as diverse in origin and age as they are in skill. Collectively, they aim to keep the essence of the dance and the culture which they represent in its purest form, whilst striving to elevate and contribute an original spectacle to the art form.

With a staggering discography of over 70 albums, Jules Buckley has worked with some of the biggest names in music, spanning Quincy Jones to Stormzy and Chaka Khan to Michael Kiwanuka. His multi-genre talents have resulted in some of the most eclectic BBC Proms imaginable including the iconic Ibiza Prom, the 1Xtra Grime Symphony, and tributes to Nina Simone and Scott Walker. He recently collaborated with Paul Weller for a special show at the Barbican, which has been captured in his upcoming album ‘An Orchestrated Songbook’.

Buckley formed the Heritage Orchestra in 2004 with Chris Wheeler, creating a 45-60-piece non-classical orchestra which has filled arenas and defied all expected orchestral stereotypes. Ghost-Note complete the team behind ‘The Breaks’ album. Headed by Snarky Puppy’s multiple Grammy-winning percussion duo of Robert ‘Sput’ Searight and Nate WerthGhost-Note push funk music into the future, building on the uplifting, pioneering foundations laid by the likes of James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone.
