“Timeless, soulful pop that feels instantly familiar.” – The Line of Best Fit “We bet on Berg for future stardom.” – tmrw “Unafraid to channel raw emotions.” – Wonderland |
The spotlight continues to shine on talented Swedish-American singer-songwriter, Lexi Berg, who has attracted fresh waves of attention with the release of three debut singles this year. ‘Into the Sea’, ‘Helpless To Help You’ and ‘Midnight Sun’ have been featured by Jo Whiley at Radio 2, and countless key playlists at Spotify and Apple Music, connecting Lexi with a growing fan base, plus a sync on the latest series of Love Island for ‘Midnight Sun’. Simultaneously, tastemakers The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland and tmrw have identified her as a rising star, while a long list of famous fans and followers already includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Pinnock, Bianca Jagger, Amelia Windsor, Rebecca Ferguson and Ronan Farrow. Today, Lexi shares the official video for her new single, ‘Lonely World’. Directed by James Ayling, Lexi explains, “This world can feel very lonely sometimes and it’s easy to fall into a place hopelessness. But even in the darkest moments, human kindness keeps hope alive. This video is a tribute to those moments of warmth and light.” Watch HERE. Lonely World hits us with a new, raw energy. With the bite of its bold guitars, Lexi’s soulful vocals crescendo to powerful new heights. Inspired by the rhythmic drive and volatile emotion of pop rock and iconic music of Fleetwood Mac, the song captures the moment of 2021 and is about crashing out of these walls. Lexi wrote ‘Lonely World’ with the song’s producer, Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur, Tom Walker), and Wayne Hector (who has scored over thirty #1 hits for artists ranging from Carrie Underwood to One Direction). This summer Lexi could finally perform live to new fans who have discovered her via her recent singles, as well as ‘What If’ from the Netflix hit ‘Pieces Of A Woman’. She followed an impressive Mahogany Session by playing one of her first major festival sets at Wilderness, while her next summer festival stop comes at the Isle of Wight this month. Lexi Berg (full name Alexandra Berglöf) was born in Stockholm, Sweden and grew up on the sea, spending much of her childhood on a houseboat docked next-door to an amusement park. A trained classical pianist, Lexi’s talents also flourished as a vocalist in her early teens, prompting offers from labels who were eager to shape her as a future pop star. But after the suicide of a beloved uncle who lived with the family, she left for America, then Edinburgh and London, where she began to explore her own independent path as a songwriter and artist. A turning point in her career came when she sent some early demos to Faris Badwan of The Horrors, which made such an impression that they recorded three tracks together, including ‘What If’. Lexi’s independent hustle – pitching directly to blogs and streaming services – landed her on Spotify and Apple Music playlists where she was picked up by sync companies, leading to the soundtrack of ‘Pieces Of A Woman’ and a deal with the Warner Music UK label EastWest Records. Lexi has created a catalogue of over 150 compositions this year alone. Her key collaborators also include Jimmy Hogarth(Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini), Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding, Foxes), solo artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich, and Sacha Skarbek (Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey). All of her recent singles, including ‘Lonely World’, will feature on her eagerly anticipated upcoming debut EP ‘Empire of One’. |
