AU/RA RELEASE NEW TRACK ‘SCREW FEELINGS’ AND UPCOMING PROJECT ‘SOUNDTRACK TO AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS’

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS’ RELEASED 27TH AUGUST

Screw Feelings is the latest track to be released from alt-pop singer songwriter Au/Ra – and her loyal fanbase won’t have too much longer to wait for a full project, as she has also announced the release of her project ‘Soundtrack To An Existential Crisis’ to be released August 27th.

The video, directed by Erin Elders shows the dichotomy of Au/Ra – on one side an average student and then her darker alter ego, throwing her emotions to one side, rebelling and doing whatever the hell she wants.

She said about the track: “Screw Feelings is about being utterly done with dealing with the ups and downs of having emotions and wishing you didn’t have them at all. This song is so special to me because it was the first, and still was the only time, I made a song with only women in the room. After filming the Aviation movie in Oslo with Alan Walker, I flew to Stockholm to meet with a really cool young producer – Elvira Anderfjärd – who brought in her friend Tove Burman – both of them happen to be around my age. I’ve been making music since I was 13 years old and am 19 now, so having only women in the room, let alone women my age, was a big deal to me and it felt really cathartic. We were all so full of the same energy, and frustration about feeling the way we did, it was amazing.”

She’s now got two UK Top 40 tracks under her belt with 2018’s platinum hit, the Camelphat remix of ‘Panic Room’ and more recently as a feature on Jax Jones’ ‘i miss u’ which is still riding high in the airplay charts and gave her a big TV moment as she performed alongside him on Little Mix The Search. The track was playlisted at Radio 1, Capital and Kiss FM, selling over 5.5 million copies worldwide. The original version of Panic Room has gone viral on TikTok more than once, and the Camelphat remix stayed in the Top 40 for 9 weeks. Meanwhile her collaboration with Alan Walker on his single ‘Darkside’ has amassed over 400million streams globally.

Ibiza-born to German parents and raised in Antigua, songwriter Au/Ra has created a unique and powerfully emotive world, filled with innovative original songs that explore the dark nature of humanity via strong melodies, evocative song-writing and transcendent production. Au/Ra’s astute, honest and exhilarating song-writing and her real and relatable storytelling is inherent in everything she does creatively. From concept to fully released song, every track and video has a distinctive plot, and creatively, she has a need to use art to make sense of the world around her. Aware that her fans are all experiencing similar things, from mental health issues, existentialism or her generation’s complex relationship with social media, her music is the embodiment to Gen Z’s hopes and fears.
