Shot in black & white, the video follows a darkly comedic story about two not-so star-crossed lovers on a date at Crosby Beach, Merseyside.

Directed, edited, and produced by Ewan Ogden (brother of Tom Ogden of Blossoms), the video juxtaposes the narrative with footage of Screentalk performing live at Vulcan Studios in their native Liverpool. A song about “the realisation that a bond has been broken and won’t ever be fixed,”, Ogden’s video offers perfect visual accompaniment.

Speaking about the video Sam Varney of Screentalk says:

“It was supposed to have a little bit of a sinister, but humorous meaning. The guy meets the girl of his dreams at the beach, but to everyone else it’s clear she’s just not real.”

“We had Ewan in mind for the video for some months” adds the band’s Stuart Mcnaughton, “he messaged me with this daft idea and it’s pretty much exactly how it turned out. I was volunteered by him to get in the costume, an opportunity I took up without hesitation”

Mixing equally impactful lyrics with an electrifying indie-rock sound reminiscent of The Killers to White Lies, ‘Mountain Soda’, was produced by Kurran Karbal (Munkey Junkey and guitarist for ZUZU) at his recording studio in Birkenhead, Wirral.

Speaking about the shooting the video at a place close to their hearts and the filming experience, Screentalk drummer Dan Moore says:

“Crosby is somewhere we’ve visited quite a bit growing up with our friends and family, next thing I know im watching a lad I’ve known since I was 5 years old taking a block of plastic out on a date… Didn’t mind getting a chance to whack a footy at them, though.”

SCREENTALK are Liverpool’s latest indie darlings. Made up of  Sean Currie (Lead Vocals), StuartMcnaughton (Keys/Synth), Sam Varney (Guitar), Gianpaolo Carnevali (Bass) and DanMoore (Drums). With a sound packed with the thrashing drums and electrics found in classic rock, with new-wave synths and Currie’s mesmerizing vocals woven within. It’s a sound that is truly distinctive, and has put a marker on the band as ones to watch.

With a sound that demands to be heard, and a work ethic that won’t quit, Screentalk are poised and ready to take the music scene by storm. Join them on the first step of what promises to be a remarkable journey with their debut single: “Mountain Soda”.
