KEISHA WHITE RELEASES THE FULL VERSION OF ‘SOMEDAY’ THE OPENING THEME TO ‘TRACY BEAKER’

Some songs take on a life of their own, far beyond what the original artist envisioned. That’s exactly what happened to the MOBO-nominated Keisha White and her song ‘Someday’. It originally emerged in 2002 as the opening theme to the CBBC TV hit ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ and went onto soundtrack all five series. It became a fan favourite, giving children an inspiring R&B anthem that sounded just as good once they grew up.

One of those kids that it inspired was Stormzy, who in turn used the song to influence a whole new generation. He sang the infectious ‘Someday’ hook in the outro to ‘Superheroes’, a key track from his 2019 #1 album ‘Heavy Is The Head’. The song and its accompanying video (dedicated to the late Chadwick Boseman) highlighted a range of important black role models, including DaveLittle SimzMarcus Rashford and the author Malorie Blackman.

Stormzy described ‘Someday’ as being “one of the most prominent pieces of black British music” in an interview with Clara Amfo.   There has subsequently been a huge demand from fans for Keisha White to officially release ‘Someday’. Today – almost twenty years later – Keisha White finally shares a new, pop version of ‘Someday’Listen HERE.

Keisha’s new recording of ‘Someday’ respects what everyone loved about the original, her vocals glisten with the soul, energy and independence that powered the original, while the production is subtly updated.

Keisha says, “I’m thrilled that at long last one of the first songs I ever recorded, and so much a part of the Tracy Beaker journey, is now being released! Can’t wait!”

The official video for ‘Someday’ reunites the ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ cast for the first time in 19 years. Original cast members Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker), Nisha Nayar (Elaine the Pain) and Chelsie Padley (Louise), are joined by Emma Davies, who plays Tracy’s daughter Jess in the current CBBC show ‘My Mum Tracy Beaker’. Watch HERE.

Hailing from LondonKeisha White first came to prominence as a teenager. When she was just 14, she auditioned for Warner Bros. Records and her stunning a cappella performance of Aretha Franklin’s ‘If You Should Lose A Good Thing’resulted in her immediately signing to the label.

In 2003, she hit the charts for the first time when she featured on house legend Paul Oakenfold’s Top 40 hit ‘The Harder They Come’ alongside Tricky. She returned to the charts by collaborating with the American rapper Cassidy on ‘Don’t Care Who Knows’, before releasing her debut album ‘Seventeen’ in 2005. The album resulted in a MOBO nomination for Best New Female Artist and included her Top 20 solo hit ‘The Weakness In Me’. A second album, ‘Out of My Hands’, and several singles followed. She has also shared stages with iconic artists ranging from The Black Eyed Peas to Craig David.
