Jake Isaac is all about authenticity. His classic-meets-contemporary take on soul is all about purity: songs rich with lived-in emotions performed with heartfelt candour that inspire hope, healing and togetherness. Fresh from the blissful nostalgia of the recent ‘A SUMMER LONG AGO’ which has seen support from Radio 2, Jake now shares his new single ‘WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE’, which features Aaron Childs. Listen HERE.

Recently, Jake has been on a mission to write songs of healing, like a spiritual antidote to what feels like a challenging time in world history. The soulful ‘WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE’ is a compelling example, full of the grace, natural talent and easy-going charm on which Jake has built his reputation. It’s about being true to the people you love, with almost every lyric capturing a truth about the need for community in a world that seems to be run by individualism. As he sings, “If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far stick together, don’t let go.”

Jake says, “I wanted to touch on things in the present. It would be foolish to not give a nod to the temperature of the world because it feels like we’re on the brink of something, so highlighting human contact, human emotion, and championing it in the time of AI and hidden agendas coming to light felt important.”

‘WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE’ was solely written and produced by Jake Isaac and features Aaron Childs. The duo come from opposite sides of the Atlantic, but they share enough commonality to make them a natural fit as collaborators. They both come from family backgrounds steeped in music (Jake’s father is a renowned reverend, so gospel music was always a part of his life; Aaron’s father is the great Billy Childs); they both bring fresh influences and a modernity to their soul roots; and they share a key influence in the shape of Bill Withers.

Aaron Childs delivers the song’s second verse, providing a lighter but equally classy vocal tone to contrast Jake’s huskiness. He also contributes guitar, his spacious melody-playing reinforcing the song’s understated groove.

Aaron adds, “When Jake sent me ‘WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE’’ and asked if I’d want to sing on it I felt my whole day get brighter. There is a quiet urgency in both the music and Jake’s vocal delivery that I noticed when I first listened through. The groove drives the song forward in a subtle way while the lyrics inspire positivity and highlight the importance of being there for someone even when times feel tough. I felt like Jake found a unique way of expressing vulnerability, kindness, and connectivity through this song and I couldn’t wait to align with those sentiments while singing verse two. I’m grateful to be a part of such a wonderful release by him.

‘WHEN THE WORLD’S ON FIRE’ comes as Jake prepares to play a special stripped-back and already sold-out headline show at St. Pancras Old Church on SEPTEMBER 10TH. He will also headline the X-TRA Musikcafe in Zurich (September 8th) and the Konzerthaus Schüür in Lucerne (September 9th). Remaining tickets for those shows are available HERE.

Jake Isaac’s early career saw him become an in-demand collaborator (songwriter, drummer, musical director) for the likes of Duffy,Gabrielle and Cynthia Erivo – all of whom he learned from. He also worked in marketing at a record label, which also informed his direction – he felt like wanted to be an artist who would inspire devotion by writing about issues that mattered, rather than simply chasing the numbers.

Early career highlights included the patronage of Sir Elton John and a memorable set at Glastonbury’s Other Stage. But he went deeper with his 2024 album, ‘BENJAMIN’, further exploring his gospel roots, his spirituality, his family background, and the things that matter the most to him. The album inspired a new era of critical acclaim for him alongside multiple Radio 2 playlists.
