Norwegian-American pop artist Hanna Andréa returns with “GET OFF YOUR PHONE,” out April 24th, the anthemic lead single offering a luminous first glimpse into her forthcoming EP, “Braveheart.” With a playful yet pointed edge, Andréa delivers a sassy challenge to a screen-obsessed culture, highlighting how constant doom-scrolling causes life’s most meaningful moments to slip by unnoticed. It’s a timely and resonant statement from an artist known for pairing polished pop sensibility with emotional depth, signaling what may be her most compelling era yet.
Co-written by Andréa alongside Michael Biancaniello, James Conner, Kelsey Gauthier, and Dominique Vellutato,the track channels a carefree, Americana-tinged energy. Blending melodic pop instincts with flashes of late ‘90s and early 2000s rock nostalgia, the song is driven by restless, muted guitar and evokes the spirit of artists like Avril Lavigne, with modern parallels to Olivia Rodrigo. Its nostalgic soundscape transports listeners to a pre-digital time, encouraging a return to presence and connection in an increasingly distracted world.
Lyrically, “GET OFF YOUR PHONE” balances introspection with sharp social commentary. The narrative captures the emotional cost of digital disconnection, contrasted by an uplifting, cinematic tone reminiscent of a coming-of-age film. Opening with the reflective line, “Today I saw a shooting star / Not far from where you are / And all the places we used to go,” Andréa immediately establishes a sense of longing for missed experiences. This vulnerability gives way to a more direct, almost exasperated tone, culminating in the track’s wry, spoken-word refrain: “’Cause you’re on your phone.”
Andréa reflected on the track’s powerful message: “I got social media later than a lot of my friends, so there were a lot of times when I’d be hanging out with them, and they’d just be scrolling while I awkwardly stared into space, not knowing what to do. I always thought it was kind of sad to be together in the same room but not actually be doing anything together.”
“GET OFF YOUR PHONE” introduces Braveheart, an EP that further showcases Andréa’s genre-blending versatility and lyrical intimacy. The project includes the synth pop and trap-inspired “Pinnacles,” produced during a stay in Stockholm, and the ethereal “Float,” alongside the cinematic, piano-driven title track “Braveheart,” released March 27th. Together, the songs explore themes of self-acceptance, imperfection, and personal growth, reinforcing Andréa’s position as an emerging voice in contemporary pop.
Since her 2024 debut single “Starlight,” Andréa has cultivated a distinctive sound that merges atmospheric synths, orchestral elements, and layered vocals with a cinematic sensibility. Often compared to artists like AURORA, Laufey, Tommee Profitt, and Jacob Collier, her work stands apart through its balance of experimental artistry and emotional accessibility. Deeply involved in every stage of the creative process, Andréa approaches music as a storyteller, crafting cohesive “bodies of work” rather than standalone releases.
This philosophy was evident in her debut LP, “Stranded In The Middle,” a fully realized project, produced when she was 16 years old and accompanied by visual collaborations with Northern Norwegian artists – a project that enticed a Northern Norwegian classical ensemble to arrange her music for strings and join her album launch concert.
Expanding her creative reach beyond pop, Andréa also wrote the songs for Muse! The Shakespeare Mayhem Musical, a pop-infused theatrical production co-created with Lisa Sanderson. Following a successful premiere at Lincoln Center, the show has been selected as a featured production at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it will run August 7–31 at Underbelly’s 276-seat Cowbarn.
Originally devised at Interlochen Arts Academy, Muse! has grown into a full-scale production supported by a team of Broadway professionals. Andréa’s signature style – combining contemporary pop with sharp lyricism and character-driven storytelling – shapes the musical’s dynamic score, giving each character a distinct voice while driving both comedic energy and emotional depth.
Looking ahead, “Braveheart” will be followed by a concept LP, continuing Andréa’s commitment to immersive, multi-layered artistry. Her work resonates across generations, blending introspective storytelling with nostalgic undertones that appeal to both younger audiences seeking meaning and older listeners drawn to its emotional depth. Visually, Andréa’s artistry is equally ambitious. With high-quality music videos and cinematic visualizers accompanying her releases, she places storytelling at the forefront of her visual identity. Her background as an actor further enhances her versatility as a performer, allowing her to move seamlessly between intimate settings and large-scale stages.
Growing up bilingual and bicultural, Andréa has developed a layered and dynamic artistic identity, moving seamlessly between the landscapes of Northern Norway, the American prairie, and the coastal cities of the United States. Raised in a small town north of the Arctic Circle, her formative years were shaped by both Norway’s striking natural environment and the expansive, fast-paced culture of the American West.
A citizen of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma – a traditionally matrilineal community whose strength and perspective are deeply reflected in her personality and work – she brings a grounded authenticity that resonates widely. At the same time, her training has placed her within some of the United States’ most respected cultural institutions, including Interlochen Center for the Arts, Princeton University, and Lincoln Center.
With “GET OFF YOUR PHONE,” Hanna Andréa delivers one of her boldest and most relatable releases to date – an infectious, thought-provoking anthem that underscores her growing reputation as a truly original and exciting artist to watch.
