Half Saudi half Ecuadorian rising pop star Mishaal Tamer has shared the official visualiser for his newly released single ‘BABA FEIN’ – watch here. The video for ‘BABA FEIN’, which will feature on Mishaal’s upcoming debut album alongside singles ‘KEEP IT UP’ and ‘ITTY BITTY’, was created by S&E Media, directed by Faisal Shaath, and produced by Mo Adams. The optimistic track, written and produced by Mishaal, is dedicated to the creative progression being made in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking about the new single, Mishaal says: “In the Arab world, parents have traditionally struggled to allow their children to pursue careers in creative fields, but this is clearly starting to change. ‘BABA FEIN’ is an ode to this transformation. As a Saudi independent artist, I’m immensely proud to say that the pace of this change is most palpable in Saudi Arabia.
Today we are seeing creatives up-and-coming all across the Arab world, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. The song samples the classic nursery rhyme “بابافين” and includes a line that my father jokingly said to me about my career: “If you’re going to be a clown, you’d better be the best.””
With over 1.4 million monthly Spotify listeners, Mishaal’s music has become a unifying force among young people in Saudi Arabia, as he aims to showcase the world the talent of young creatives in the country. In the last year, Tamer has completed his first ever headline show, supported Grammy nominated band OneRepublic on tour across the globe, plus received press support from the likes of Wonderland, Fault Magazine, BEAT Magazine, and Equate Magazine, with Mishaal also recently appearing on the cover of House of Solo Magazine.
