Announcement: Outernet London and Royal College of Art Join Forces to Champion Fresh Talent

OUTERNET AND ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART JOIN FORCES TO CHAMPION FRESH TALENT

New work will be exhibited 25th-28th July with more to come later this year

rca and Outernet today announce the second year of their partnership to showcase RCA students’ digital work on the most advanced immersive screens in the world.

RCA students will be able to use Outernet’s immense canvas of screens, exposing their work to a vast audience. Since launching in November 2022 Outernet has championed new and emerging talent across the arts – all for free in the heart of central London. Just 18 months since opening Outernet is the most visited cultural attraction in the UK with over 6 million guests a year enjoying the district’s flagship space, The Now Building.

Outernet and the RCA will present ‘NOW. GATHER. CHANGE’ a Digital Direction 2024 immersive media exhibition inviting audiences to realise and rethink the defining issues of NOW, and to collectively imagine a more radiant and respectful future. This will exhibit from 25th to 28th July 10am – 9pm daily. Outernet will display more RCA work in the autumn.

Outernet is the most advanced immersive space in the world, featuring 23,000 square feet of floor-to-ceiling, 360-degree, wraparound 16K screens in our main space as well as additional smaller spaces featuring the same world leading screens. It uses pioneering immersive technology to create new experiences for music, arts, culture and creators.

Tom Simmons, Head of Programme Digital Direction, Royal College of Art, said “Our partnership with Outernet provides an unparalleled opportunity for RCA students to explore how immersive storytelling can be connected with diverse audiences to envisage positive change. We are delighted to continue to partner with Outernet to present our 2024 Digital Direction exhibition.”

Scott Neal Creative Director Culture and Lifestyle, Outernet said “I am very proud to continue to partner with The Royal College of Art to showcase some of the worlds future leading creatives. The creative excellence of the RCA and their students continues to impress and inspire.”
