HANA LILI SHARES THE NEW SINGLE ‘FIGURE IT OUT’ – LISTEN HERE “Hana Lili mines the depths of her emotions to write heartfelt songs.” – The Guardian “Hana Lili has been wooing the nation with her rounded sound.” – Notion “A sublime slice of gentle bedroom pop.” – The Line of Best Fit “Infused with a poignantly nostalgic sensibility, calling to mind the lo-fi indie of the 90s.” – Wonderland “’Flowers Die In The Summer’ is testament to her unique alt-pop vision, matching her effervescent voice against raw, lo-fi elements.” – Clash |
Hana Lili has ascended to become the UK’s next crossover pop-rock hope, her rise so far including shows as guest to Coldplay, Circa Waves, Tom Grennan and Somebody’s Child as well as her previous single ‘Iconic’ continuing a streak of her releases to earn Radio 1 Future Pop airplay from Mollie King. Hana now takes another step towards becoming iconic in her own right by sharing the new single ‘Figure It Out’. Listen HERE.
‘Figure It Out’ is symbolic of what Hana does well: pop-rock with a rebellious streak that hits the accelerator and in a blur of melody boldly unmasks the emotions that might otherwise remain personal. Hana’s voice is the sweetly refined counterpoint for the bite of her music, while her lyrics dare a crush to throw caution to the wind and take a chance on whatever fate has in store for them.
Hana says, “‘Figure It Out’ is about liking someone and them liking you back, and not being ashamed to admit it. Life’s short, and I feel like I’ve done a lot of overthinking, what’s wrong with just having fun? I might be talking to the person this song is about, or I might be talking to everyone else around me, but I’ll let you figure that one out!”
‘Figure Is Out’ was created by the same team behind ‘Iconic’ with writer/producer Hana working with co-producer Daniel Newcombe (JERUB) and co-writer Mark Vallance (Tom Walker).
While Hana Lili is an artist with everything it takes to make an international impact, her roots are firmly within her homeland of Wales. Raised in Sully on the south coast and speaking Welsh as her first language, the nation has been the site of both her formative moments (playing in local folk clubs when young) as well as her biggest shows to date (the Principality Stadium in Cardiff with Coldplay). Despite her still youthful age, she also runs workshops at Merched yn Gwneud Miwsig, an initiative to encourage young women to write and produce music, and to explore other roles within the music industry.
Her influences, however, are far more wide-reaching both in genre and era with favourites including Wolf Alice, Wet Leg, The Cardigans, Nirvana, Pixies, No Doubt and Fleetwood Mac. Although she has only released two EPs and a few stand-alone singles to date, Hana is already making an impact in all the right ways. Sian Eleri, Jack Saunders and Maia Beth have all joined Mollie King in championing her at Radio 1, with 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales and Radio Cymru all backing her too. Hana Lili and her band got their 2024 festival run underway last month with sets at both legs of the Dot To Dot Festival. Cardiff’s Sŵn Festival (October 17th-19th) and Live At Leeds In the City (November 16th) are already confirmed, with more to be announced soon. |
