Today, rising Belfast artist Jordan Adetunji shares his new mixtape ‘ROCK ‘N’ RAVE’ alongside new single ‘DECAY’. Listen HERE.
The nine-track mixtape opens doors into Jordan’s progressive sound and psyche, showcasing the full scale of his forward-thinking artistry. From the heavy beats of ‘THINGS YOU DO’ to themes of attachment in his previous single ‘CAN’T LOSE’, as well as diving into introspection and displaying his rapping abilities on new tracks ‘DECAY’ and ‘LIAR’, Jordan’s debut body of work fires on all cylinders.
Speaking about the release, Jordan says: ‘Rock ‘N’ Rave’ is a new sound to me and explains this tape for what it is. It’s a display of emotions and feelings. It’s about overcoming struggle and hardship and I feel like I show the rawest display of emotion on this tape as well as happiness. It’s a show of all emotions.”
After releasing a string of forward-thinking tracks which hone in on his distinct hyperpop/jersey club infused sound including ‘Can’t Lose’, ‘Things You Do’ and fan-favourite ‘Involved’, the genre bending artist has rapidly been making a name for himself. His influences range from The Weeknd to Kendrick Lamar, Jaden Smith, XXXTENTACION, Joy Division and Bring Me The Horizon. His innovative take on music has also seen him supporting pop/punk artist KennyHoopla on tour and he was also selected by TikTok as one of their #AltMusic artists last year.
Jordan’s momentum has built up impressively across this last year. After initially being signed to RCA Records on the suggestion of Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, hist recent single, ‘Go’ was selected by BBC Radio 1 as their Introducing Track of the Week. He’s also picked up a large breadth of tastemaker support from BBC Radio 1, Huw Stephens, DJ Target, Jamz Supernova, Dazed, Clash, GUAP, Rolling Stone UK, The Line of Best Fit, i-D, Wonderland, Hypebeast, The Independent, NME and more.
This evening, in line with the release of ‘Rock ‘N’ Rave’, Jordan takes to the live stage in his hometown Belfast for a BBC Introducing headline show. He will also headline The Social, London on Tuesday 24th October. Tickets HERE.
