Amy Jo announces release of her Caught On A Bad Day single on 23 June 2023 on Safe House Recordings

“Heartfelt as well as heart-breaking, Amy Jo has struck gold with this. Up there with the best from the UK Country scene in 2022.” Belles & Gals (The Home of Female Country Music).

UK New Country singer, and multi-instrumentalist Amy Jo, is set to release her Caught On A Bad Day single on June 23rd 2023. The Morecambe Bay resident has been receiving rave reviews for her recent releases – “There’s something special about Amy Jo, who sounds like a Nashville-era Taylor Swift. One to watch for 2023” (Louder Than War) – and is on course to take her place amongst the finer echelons of British female-fronted contemporaneous country outfits such as The Wandering Hearts, Ward Thomas, and the Shires, who kick-started the movement almost a decade ago.

Caught On A Bad Day is a country-folk rocker that focusses in on a day when Amy Jo ventured outdoors “looking not so great” and ended up bumping into just about everyone she knew. ‘If only you’d seen me last Friday night/Red lipstick and a dress that fits just right’, she gently hollers – if anyone can gently holler, it’s Amy Jo – and one is reminded of the little things in life, the casual observations and quiet reflections that make up our days. Even the bad ones.

You can listen to the song here  https://youtu.be/Bz2vbZ8K3Kw

Caught On A Bad Day has been lifted from Amy Jo’s current Songs From The Bay EP release. As well as Caught On A Bad Day, the Songs From The Bay Ep also features Coming Close – a typically-wry reflection on what it’s like to always be the runner up, and  a co-write with Grant Black ((Van Morrison, Craig David, Run DMC, Sarah Brightman, Olly Murs) – February 14th, a cleverly-twisted and wistful rumination on the merits of Valentine’s Day, and the R ‘n’ B-tinged, Shoulder Pads, a generous ode to possibility, and Amy Jo’s “perspective on the good girl/bad boy romance trope.’

Along with the rest of the Songs From The Bay EP, Caught On A Bad Day, has been produced by Julian Hinton (Trevor Horn, Robbie Williams, Rumer) and Simon Bloor (Seal, Birdy, Will Heard).
