In this new follow-up interview, we talk about life on tour, the fan reactions to Genius, what’s next musically for Leah and if she will be working with LOLO.

What was the main inspiration behind your album Genius?
Honestly… making horrible decisions with extreme confidence. Genius is basically me romanticizing every red flag I willingly ignored and every emotional spiral I turned into a song instead of a therapy appointment. I wanted to make an album that felt like the internal monologue of someone who knows they’re making bad choices… but looks really hot doing it. It’s chaotic, dramatic, self-aware, a little delusional — which to me is the purest form of genius.
You’re currently on tour – how has the experience been so far?
Tour has honestly felt like a fever dream in the best way. I’m exhausted, emotionally unstable, living out of a suitcase, forgetting what country I’m in half the time… but also having the absolute time of my life. There’s something really healing about screaming your problems in a room full of people who somehow know every word.
Do you have a favourite song on Genius, or a lyric you never get tired of performing
live?
I think “Genius” might be my favourite because it kind of explains the entire album in one song.
It’s self-destruction disguised as confidence. Which is basically my brand at this point. There are also lyrics on Not To Be Dramatic that make me laugh every single time because
they sound unhinged out of context… which means I did my job correctly.
Are there any songs in your set that give you that real “this is a moment” feeling
when the crowd sings along?
10 Things I Hate About You obviously still feels insane every time because hearing thousands of people scream those lyrics is weirdly emotional. But honestly the newer songs are starting to hit like that too, especially creepin. There’s something beautiful about realizing other people are also mentally spiraling in the exact same way as you.
How would you describe your growth as an artist from Alive to Super Over and now
Genius?
I think Alive & Unwell was me trying to survive things, Super Over was me trying to convince everyone I survived them… and Genius is me realizing maybe the damage is actually part of the personality now. Sonically and creatively I’ve become way more fearless. I care less about being likable and more about being honest, which ironically has made people connect with the music even more.
Can we expect any new music soon?
Oh there’s SO much coming.

You’ve collaborated with a few amazing artists already — are there any upcoming collaborations you can tease? I’d personally love to hear something with LOLO.
I would LOVE to do something with LOLO. I feel like together we could create something emotionally dangerous for the population.

Looking back so far, what are some of the moments in your career that have meant the most to you?
Hearing arenas scream my lyrics back to me for the first time was definitely life-altering.
Opening for Madison Beer was huge for me too. But honestly some of the smaller moments weirdly mean the most — like meeting fans after shows who tell me a song helped them through heartbreak or made them feel less crazy. That’s the coolest part.
Making people feel seen through your own disasters is kind of the dream.

Finally, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Thank you for somehow turning my public emotional breakdowns into a career. Truly.
The fact that people connect with these songs as deeply as they do means everything to me.

Anything you’d like to add that I missed with the interview?
Only that being self-aware does not automatically stop you from making bad decisions. I’ve tested this theory extensively while making this album.
