Harper Starling Music Promotions Interview

Harper Starling is the name that you will be hearing more from this year, starting with supporting The Wanted on their arena tour, many summer shows and A1 later in the year. Music Promotions is the first female outlet to interview Harper in the UK; This is the second interview with Harper. Music Promotions is delighted to welcome Harper back as she talks touring, the lock bridge photo, more music, and much more.

Harper STARLING

You have been announced as the support for The Wanted; how excited are you for joining their arena tour?

I still can’t believe it’s happening; I’ve been such a massive fan since ‘Glad You Came’ came out on the radio; they are lovely guys. Then, I heard Chasing The Sun; I got a message from my management that I would be supporting them on this tour, and now I am out here in the UK, which has also been a dream of mine, I couldn’t ask for more.

Looking at all the venues, which ones, in particular, are you excited to perform at?

This may sound cliché, but every single venue I am going to be performing at is a dream come true; I have always wanted to perform in arena’s around the UK, to just pick one I don’t think I could, but The O2 has always been a dream of mine. So, in general, I am honoured and excited to be at any of these venues.

Your new single ‘Say My Name’ out soon; what is the story behind this song? When is this released?

I had the honour of working with Cindy Valentine and Joe Cruz with this collaboration. They are huge heavy hitters in the music industry; you name the artist. They have probably worked with them, from Pussycat Dolls, Bebe Rehxa, Britney Spears, Carly Rae Jepson; we all came together with ideas about calling out toxic relationships and learning to love yourself. ‘Say My Name’ came out on February 18th, and the remix with “Sebastian Perez” is coming out on March 4th.

The artwork shows you standing behind the padlocks on a lock bridge. Did you add your lock?

Did you come up with the artwork idea? What was the idea behind it?

I wish I did; the photo was actually taken when we went into town. I want to go back and add my own lock. The photo was taken in Canada by a wonderful woman called Sophia, and we were just going out and about, and she said this would be cool; what I like about it is the different names on these locks and that people can put their feelings together. So I definitely need to go back.

Do you have more music ready to be released?

Yes, I do; I have lots of music ready to go; I have a single coming out in April. There will be a special guest featuring on this song and a music video to follow, and I have an album coming out; lots of music will be coming. So I can say this much ‘fans of ‘Teen Witch’ will love this.

From The Wanted tour as we spoke about and the A1 tour, do you have any more tours coming up you can discuss?

In June, I will be here in the UK, performing at the Bedford and LeeStock festival and a few other places; I will be here in the UK basically as my second home for a good chunk of 2022.

What else do you have coming up?

After the tour is done, I will be heading back to Los Angeles, where I will be shooting another music video and then heading to Las Vegas, where I am performing at the Living Legend awards, which is the Grammys weekend. So I am very excited about that.

Catch Harper around the UK with The Wanted, starting in Glasgow on March 3rd.
