Building on 200 million streams and two Radio 2 A-listed Records of the Week, Albin Lee Meldau today shares his brand new single ‘Forget About Us’ – his first English-language release in three years, and his first under a new deal with the indie powerhouse Glassnote Records. The song previews a new studio album which will follow later this year, and is released as he commences a sold-out arena tour in his homeland of Sweden. Listen HERE. A sumptuous mix of classic songcraft, ardent emotions and Albin’s suave, soulful vocal gift, ‘Forget About Us’ finds the singer-songwriter coming to terms with a break-up. Capturing the timeless feel of the Laurel Canyon scene within the context of the contemporary music landscape, its folk-pop style also has a cinematic majesty as strings sweep in to complement his rich, spirited voice. ‘Forget About Us’ was co-written/produced by Albin with Grammy Award-winning producer Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur). Albin says, “Forget about us is about finally realising that the one you love no longer cares for you the way she used to, and how you would do anything to try and forget about her.” ‘Forget About Us’ provides a first taste of his second English-language album, which will be released later this year. The album is being produced and co-written by the multiple Ivor Novello award winner Eg White (James Blunt, Florence + The Machine, Adele), Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur), Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Ellie Goulding) and others. With poetic lyrics, arresting melodies and a breathtaking voice, Albin Lee Meldau’s narrative-driven songs transcend languages. He first achieved international attention with the single ‘Lou’ and then his 2018 debut album ‘About You’. He sold-out tours across Europe and the USA, while landmark moments included an NPR Tiny Desk session, as well as festivals including SXSW, Bonnaroo and Reeperbahn, where he was presented with the Anchor Award by Tony Visconti. In addition to Eg White and Jonathan Quarmby, his collaborators have included Justin Parker (Adele, Lana Del Rey) and Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Disclosure). Since then, Albin has focused his attention on Sweden and Scandinavia as he established himself as a multi-Platinum, arena-filling artist. In 2021 he released ‘På svenska’, a deeply personal record detailing his journey from addiction to sobriety with lyrics that are brutal and extremely honest while also moving and relatable. |
