Press play on Nick Wilson’s debut album ‘Now I’m Falling’ and you’ll be transported to revealing snapshots of his life experiences. Setting his emotionally pure vocal to authentic narratives, each song hones in on a specific emotion, where it’s lost love, self-doubt or hope for a brighter future. And when an accomplished songwriter wears his heart-on-his-sleeve, audiences naturally respond. The proof is in the achievements that he’s ticked off over the course of the summer: exceeding a career total of 100 million streams, returning to #1 of the iTunes Singer-Songwriter charts, and picking up thousands ofShazams each time his songs soundtrack ‘Love Island’. ‘Now I’m Falling’ is out now, alongside its new single ‘Black And Blue’. The album represents the culmination of a rise which has taken him from intimate home-recorded productions to approaching 900,000 monthly listeners at Spotify. ‘Now I’m Falling’ is an album about love and human connection,” says Nick. “Each song is a representation of an emotion or feeling that I’ve kept close and lived with over the past five years of writing: falling in love, falling out of love, and all the parts in-between. I love the two-sided sentiment to ‘falling’, whether it’s falling for someone or falling apart, and this album is an attempt to capture that spectrum in some way. It’s a culmination of everything I’ve done before and every experience I’ve had along the way. I hope people can connect with the songs in some way, just as much as I did when I was making them.” Nick’s new single ‘Black And Blue’ is the album’s closing song and ends the record on a high note, providing a redemptive conclusion after the travails that preceded it. Nick’s typically unguarded lyricism (“I’m no stranger to dark days but I’ve made it through”) is countered by open-hearted optimism. Constructed in such an elegantly streamlined fashion – vocals, piano and a luscious string arrangement – ‘Black And Blue’ feels like it closes the creative chapter of ‘Now I’m Falling’ while opening new doors for Nick’s future. ‘Now I’m Falling’ was previously previewed by singles such as ‘Lead Me To The Water’ and ‘Love Can Be So Lonely, Sometimes’. They’re both songs which show that Nick excels at infusing his classic singer-songwriter traits with fresh, atmospheric production that echoes the alt-pop sound. The project came to life with the help of key collaborators including producers Martin Luke Brown (BTS, Gavin James, Sody) and Mark Elliott, co-writer Joe Keogh (Amber Run) and string arranger Tobie Tripp (George Ezra, Tom Grennan). His songs are further brought to life via the consistently inventive narrative interpretations that feature in their accompanying videos. ‘Now I’m Falling’ will also be released on transparent orange vinyl on December 1st. Signed copies are now available to pre-order here. Nick Wilson will celebrate the release of ‘Now I’m Falling’ by touring as guest to Emily Burns next month.
