Andy Van has made a career-spanning impact on dance music, mixing huge mainstream success while maintaining his underground credibility. As one-half of Madison Avenue, he delivered one of the biggest hits of the era with ‘Don’t Call Me Baby’ (#1 in the UK and on the Billboard Dance chart) before topping the charts in Australia with the follow-up ‘Who The Hell Are You’ and then expanding his sound with Vandalism. He also co-founded the Vicious label, which issued the first releases from AVICII and Carl Cox, plus smash hits such as Cabin Crew’s ‘Star2Fall’. Now Andy Van channels his love of timeless disco with some modernist house influences with his new project Super Disco Club, a partnership with his wife, the singer-songwriter Cassie Van. The duo today share their debut track ‘We Are One’, which is out now via Vicious. Echoing elements of French Touch and nu-disco, its reverberating bass and shuffling beats provide the tightly-woven rhythm that underpins its instantly memorably synth hook. The topline only escalates the track’s energy, with a unifying call that’s sure to resonate as dancefloors once again fill from wall-to-wall. “We are super excited to be finally releasing our Super Disco Club tracks, it’s been over 2 years of development, recording and then lockdowns. We have a whole bunch of disco vibed tracks ready to unleash, so let’s go!” says Andy. ‘We Are One” builds on the attention that Super Disco Club first gained in 2019 when they delivered a remix of Madison Avenue’s ‘Don’t Call Me Baby’ to commemorate the original’s twentieth anniversary. The ‘We Are One’ release is completed by two remixes from Sgt Slick and Birdee, which further connect with the surging disco renaissance. Sgt Slick’s remix comes after the Melbourne-based artist topped the ARIA Club Chart last year with ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’. Meanwhile, Birdee’s reworking reiterates his reputation as a producer’s producer, following support for his tracks from the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Claptone, Pete Tong, Horse Meat Disco and Groove Armada. ‘We Are One’ introduces Super Disco Club in style, as the duo introduce their all-inclusive and unadulterated love of disco. Prepare for an enduring run of killer tracks to follow. |
