| Accompanying the release of their new single, LAURENCE MURRAY PROJECT, can reveal divine new visuals for: “Providence”. WATCH VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/fKHQ8RB7-PY Filmed and directed by Gareth Goodlad, the video captures Laurence Murray Project performing in the stately confines of The Old Dr Bell’s Baths in the Leith district of the band’s native Edinburgh. A track steeped in nostalgia and reflection, new single “Providence” finds itself quite at home in the surroundings of the beautifully restored victorian baths. Now used as a stunning gig-space, the video also provides a mouth-watering forecast for the return of live venues in the coming months. Speaking about recording the video Laurence says: “Providence was initially recorded live in the room together at Black Bay Studio so we wanted to authentically recreate that vibe in the video of us playing in a live session” Utilising the venue’s stain-glass windows to psychedelic effect, the video nods to the acid-washed visuals of the 60s and 70s; an era that finds particular reference in the LMP’s sound. With warm inflections of the Laurel Canyon-esque folk/rock and the tender blue-eyed Soul of that era, “Providence” is their debut release as a four-piece. With nods to the canons of John Mayer, Bill Withers to George Harrison, it’s a track that also sees a band finding their own groove with infusions of contemporary down-tempo and RnB vibes to create something special. “Providence” was recorded at the UK’s most remote recording studio; Black Bay Studio on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland after Murray decided to pursue his own musical project again following a four year hiatus from original music during which he worked at sea as a musician for Disney Cruise Line – prolifically penning songs in his ship cabin along the way. Citing his recent experiences of working as a teacher in refugee camps in the Middle East as a major influence throughout his recent writing and describes these experiences as helping him gain “a newfound perspective on life and liberty”, Murray’s debut release with LMP finds him exploring themes of unconditional love, longing and dreams; writing with candour on self-exploration and mystical experiences. With an 11-track studio album ‘Still’ in the can and ready for release later this year, our first glimpse of it: “Providence” is out now.
